COMPARISON
Hello Friends!
Comparison…it’s a losing battle! We will never reach a point where we are better than others in every way. This mindset can cause insecurity, lack of motivation, jealousy, pride and even depression. In essence, your being held “Captive” by your own thoughts. This brings us to our first letter “C”.
Our world is reeling with the mix of social media and leads us to believe that all information that our “screens” bring is an accurate representation of people’s lives 24 hours a day. This just isn’t true! We only hurt ourselves when we compare our lives to others, when we don’t have the full picture. In other words, our hearts and minds are being held “Captive”. Steve Furtick explains, “The reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind-the-scenes with everyone else’s highlight reel.”
II Corinthians 10:5 says, “We should cast down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”
Coaching Question:
- What “Comparison” do you find yourself struggling with?
- Are you seeing the “Full” picture or just the “highlight reel”?
- Christ asks us to “cast down” those arguments that go against God’s best for you. Do you need to take your thoughts “Captive” so that your heart and mind can be renewed and restored?
Comparison causes “Captivity”…make that choice to break free!
